How To Install r-cran-gwidgets on Ubuntu

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install r-cran-gwidgets on Ubuntu.

What is r-cran-gwidgets

r-cran-gwidgets is:

Provides a toolkit-independent API for building interactive GUIs. At least one of the ‘gWidgetsXXX packages’, such as gWidgetstcltk, needs to be installed. Some icons are on loan from the scigraphica project http://scigraphica.sourceforge.net.

There are three methods to install r-cran-gwidgets on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install r-cran-gwidgets Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install r-cran-gwidgets using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install r-cran-gwidgets

Install r-cran-gwidgets Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install r-cran-gwidgets using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install r-cran-gwidgets

Install r-cran-gwidgets Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install r-cran-gwidgets using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install r-cran-gwidgets

How To Uninstall r-cran-gwidgets on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the r-cran-gwidgets package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove r-cran-gwidgets

Uninstall r-cran-gwidgets And Its Dependencies

To uninstall r-cran-gwidgets and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove r-cran-gwidgets

Remove r-cran-gwidgets Configurations and Data

To remove r-cran-gwidgets configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge r-cran-gwidgets

Remove r-cran-gwidgets configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove r-cran-gwidgets configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge r-cran-gwidgets
