In this tutorial we learn how to install qt6-base-dev-tools on Ubuntu.
What is qt6-base-dev-tools
qt6-base-dev-tools is:
Qt is a cross-platform C++ application framework. Qt’s primary feature is its rich set of widgets that provide standard GUI functionality.
This package contains the development programs used for building Qt 6 applications, such as moc, qdbuscpp2xml, qdbusxml2cpp, rcc, syncqt and uic.
We do not recommend depending on this package directly. Please depend on qt6-base-dev instead.
There are three methods to install qt6-base-dev-tools on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install qt6-base-dev-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install qt6-base-dev-tools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install qt6-base-dev-tools
Install qt6-base-dev-tools Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install qt6-base-dev-tools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install qt6-base-dev-tools
Install qt6-base-dev-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install qt6-base-dev-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install qt6-base-dev-tools
How To Uninstall qt6-base-dev-tools on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the qt6-base-dev-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove qt6-base-dev-tools

To uninstall qt6-base-dev-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove qt6-base-dev-tools

To remove qt6-base-dev-tools configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge qt6-base-dev-tools
Remove qt6-base-dev-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove qt6-base-dev-tools configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge qt6-base-dev-tools
