In this tutorial we learn how to install qt5ct on Ubuntu.
What is qt5ct
qt5ct is:
This utility allows users to configure Qt5 settings (theme, font, icons, etc.) under DE/WM without Qt integration.
Qt5ct will only be active on environments other than Plasma. Default configuration have switch to disable running on Plasma.
Qt5ct could use qt5 gtk theme, KDE breeze theme, the fusion theme, QtCurve theme and many more. Each style could be customized further by changing the color schema.
There are three methods to install qt5ct on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install qt5ct Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install qt5ct using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install qt5ct

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install qt5ct using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install qt5ct
Install qt5ct Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install qt5ct using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install qt5ct
How To Uninstall qt5ct on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the qt5ct package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove qt5ct
Uninstall qt5ct And Its Dependencies
To uninstall qt5ct and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove qt5ct
Remove qt5ct Configurations and Data
To remove qt5ct configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge qt5ct
