In this tutorial we learn how to install qml on Ubuntu.
What is qml
qml is:
Qt is a cross-platform C++ application framework. Qt’s primary feature is its rich set of widgets that provide standard GUI functionality.
This package contains the new QML viewer for Qt Quick 2, called simply ‘qml’.
There are three methods to install qml on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install qml Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install qml using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install qml
Install qml Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install qml using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install qml
Install qml Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install qml using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install qml
How To Uninstall qml on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the qml package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove qml
Uninstall qml And Its Dependencies
To uninstall qml and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove qml
Remove qml Configurations and Data
To remove qml configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge qml
Remove qml configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove qml configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge qml
