Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install qepcad on Ubuntu.
What is qepcad
qepcad is:
QEPCAD is an implementation of quantifier elimination by partial cylindrical algebraic decomposition due originally to Hoon Hong, and subsequently added on to by many others. It is an interactive command-line program written in C/C++, and based on the SACLIB library. Presented here is QEPCAD B version 1.x, the “B” designating a substantial departure from the original QEPCAD and distinguishing it from any development of the original that may proceed in a different direction. QEPCAD and the SACLIB library are the result of a program of research by George Collins and his PhD students that has spanned several decades … and continues still!
There are three methods to install qepcad on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install qepcad Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install qepcad using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install qepcad
Install qepcad Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install qepcad using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install qepcad
Install qepcad Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install qepcad using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install qepcad
How To Uninstall qepcad on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the qepcad package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove qepcad
Uninstall qepcad And Its Dependencies
To uninstall qepcad and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove qepcad
Remove qepcad Configurations and Data
To remove qepcad configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge qepcad
Remove qepcad configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove qepcad configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge qepcad
