Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install qasmixer on Ubuntu.
What is qasmixer
qasmixer is:
QasTools is a collection of desktop applications for the Linux sound system ALSA.
The applications included are:
- QasConfig - browser for the ALSA configuration tree
- QasHctl - mixer for ALSA’s High level Control Interface
- QasMixer - desktop mixer with features similar to alsamixer
QasMixer is a desktop mixer application for ALSA’s “Simple Mixer Interface” and offers features similar to alsamixer. It also features a system tray icon with basic mixer functionality.
There are three methods to install qasmixer on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install qasmixer Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install qasmixer using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install qasmixer
Install qasmixer Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install qasmixer using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install qasmixer
Install qasmixer Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install qasmixer using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install qasmixer
How To Uninstall qasmixer on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the qasmixer package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove qasmixer
Uninstall qasmixer And Its Dependencies
To uninstall qasmixer and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove qasmixer
Remove qasmixer Configurations and Data
To remove qasmixer configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge qasmixer
Remove qasmixer configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove qasmixer configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge qasmixer
