Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install qashctl on Ubuntu.
What is qashctl
qashctl is:
QasTools is a collection of desktop applications for the Linux sound system ALSA.
The applications included are:
- QasConfig - browser for the ALSA configuration tree
- QasHctl - mixer for ALSA’s High level Control Interface
- QasMixer - desktop mixer with features similar to alsamixer
QasHctl is a mixer application for ALSA’s “High level Control Interface”. This interface allows more complex interaction than the “Simple Mixer Interface” which is used by alsamixer and QasMixer.
There are three methods to install qashctl on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install qashctl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install qashctl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install qashctl
Install qashctl Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install qashctl using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install qashctl
Install qashctl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install qashctl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install qashctl
How To Uninstall qashctl on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the qashctl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove qashctl
Uninstall qashctl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall qashctl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove qashctl
Remove qashctl Configurations and Data
To remove qashctl configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge qashctl
Remove qashctl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove qashctl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge qashctl
