Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install python3-smartypants on Ubuntu.

What is python3-smartypants

python3-smartypants is:

It can perform the following transformations:

• Straight quotes ( " and ’ ) into “curly” quote HTML entities
• Backticks-style quotes (``like this’’) into “curly” quote HTML entities
• Dashes (– and —) into en- and em-dash entities
• Three consecutive dots (… or . . .) into an ellipsis entity

This means you can write, edit, and save your posts using plain old ASCII straight quotes, plain dashes, and plain dots, but your published posts (and final HTML output) will appear with smart quotes, em-dashes, and proper ellipses.

SmartyPants does not modify characters within

, , , $or$<script> tag blocks. Typically, these tags are used to display text
where smart quotes and other “smart punctuation” would not be appropriate,
such as source code or example markup.

This is the Python 3 version of the package.
There are three methods to install python3-smartypants on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python3-smartypants Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install python3-smartypants using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python3-smartypants
How To Uninstall python3-smartypants on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the python3-smartypants package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python3-smartypants
Uninstall python3-smartypants And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python3-smartypants and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python3-smartypants
Remove python3-smartypants Configurations and Data
To remove python3-smartypants  configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python3-smartypants
Remove python3-smartypants configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python3-smartypants configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
