In this tutorial we learn how to install python3-securesystemslib
on Ubuntu.
What is python3-securesystemslib
python3-securesystemslib is:
securesystemslib provides a high-level interface to cryptographic functions. It supports public-key and other cryptographic algorithms, such as ECDSA, Ed25519, RSA, SHA256, SHA512, etc. and a schema definition and validation framework.
securesystemslib is developed at the Secure Systems Lab of NYU and is used by the Python implementations of The Update Framework (TUF) and the software supply chain integrity framework in-toto.
There are three methods to install python3-securesystemslib
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python3-securesystemslib Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-securesystemslib
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python3-securesystemslib
Install python3-securesystemslib Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-securesystemslib
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python3-securesystemslib

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-securesystemslib
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install python3-securesystemslib
How To Uninstall python3-securesystemslib on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the python3-securesystemslib
package we can use the following command:

and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
