In this tutorial we learn how to install python3-sasview on Ubuntu.
What is python3-sasview
python3-sasview is:
SasView is a Small Angle Scattering Analysis Software Package, originally developed as part of the NSF DANSE project under the name SansView, now managed by an international collaboration of facilities.
SasView is software for the analysis of Small-Angle Scattering (SAS) data.
It fits analytic functions describing different types of material microstructure to experimental data in order to determine the shape, size and degree of ordering.
SasView also includes tools for calculating scattering length densities, slit sizes, resolution, fringe thicknesses/d-spacings, the (Porod) invariant (’total scattering’), and distance distribution functions.
This is the package of Python modules; most users will want the graphical user interface in the sasview package.
There are three methods to install python3-sasview on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python3-sasview Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-sasview using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python3-sasview
Install python3-sasview Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-sasview using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python3-sasview
Install python3-sasview Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-sasview using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python3-sasview
How To Uninstall python3-sasview on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the python3-sasview package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python3-sasview
Uninstall python3-sasview And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python3-sasview and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python3-sasview
Remove python3-sasview Configurations and Data
To remove python3-sasview configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python3-sasview
Remove python3-sasview configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python3-sasview configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python3-sasview
