In this tutorial we learn how to install python3-lockfile on Ubuntu.

What is python3-lockfile

python3-lockfile is:

The ‘lockfile’ library exports a ‘LockFile’ class which provides a simple API for locking files.

The appropriate implementation for ‘LockFile’ is chosen automatically based on the OS capabilities for an atomic filesystem operation. These implementations are also available for explicit use as ‘LinkLockFile’ and ‘MkdirLockFile’.

Other back ends are possible with the same semantics. Examples included are:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install python3-lockfile using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install python3-lockfile

Install python3-lockfile Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install python3-lockfile using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install python3-lockfile

How To Uninstall python3-lockfile on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the python3-lockfile package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove python3-lockfile

Uninstall python3-lockfile And Its Dependencies

To uninstall python3-lockfile and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove python3-lockfile

Remove python3-lockfile Configurations and Data

To remove python3-lockfile configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge python3-lockfile

Remove python3-lockfile configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove python3-lockfile configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python3-lockfile
