In this tutorial we learn how to install python3-configobj
on Ubuntu.
What is python3-configobj
python3-configobj is:
ConfigObj is a simple but powerful config file reader and writer: an ini file round tripper. Its main feature is that it is very easy to use, with a straightforward programmer’s interface and a simple syntax for config files. It has lots of other features, though:
- Nested sections (subsections), to any level
- List values
- Multiple line values
- String interpolation (substitution)
- Integrated with a powerful validation system
- including automatic type checking/conversion
- and allowing default values
- repeated sections
- All comments in the file are preserved
- The order of keys/sections is preserved
- Full Unicode support
- Powerful unrepr mode for storing/retrieving Python data-types

There are three methods to install python3-configobj
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python3-configobj Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-configobj
using apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-configobj
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python3-configobj
How To Uninstall python3-configobj on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the python3-configobj
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python3-configobj

To uninstall python3-configobj
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python3-configobj
