What is `python3-certbot`

python3-certbot is:

The objective of Certbot, Let’s Encrypt, and the ACME (Automated Certificate Management Environment) protocol is to make it possible to set up an HTTPS server and have it automatically obtain a browser-trusted certificate, without any human intervention. This is accomplished by running a certificate management agent on the web server.

This agent is used to:

Automatically prove to the Let’s Encrypt CA that you control the website
Obtain a browser-trusted certificate and set it up on your web server
Keep track of when your certificate is going to expire, and renew it
Help you revoke the certificate if that ever becomes necessary.

This package contains the main libraries.

There are three methods to install python3-certbot on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install python3-certbot Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install python3-certbot using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install python3-certbot

Install python3-certbot Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install python3-certbot using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install python3-certbot

Install python3-certbot Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install python3-certbot using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install python3-certbot

How To Uninstall python3-certbot on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the python3-certbot package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove python3-certbot

Uninstall python3-certbot And Its Dependencies

To uninstall python3-certbot and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove python3-certbot

Remove python3-certbot Configurations and Data

To remove python3-certbot configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge python3-certbot

Remove python3-certbot configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove python3-certbot configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
