In this tutorial we learn how to install pyosmium on Ubuntu.
What is pyosmium
pyosmium is:
The PyOsmium module allows you to access some of the features of the Osmium library from Python code.
PyOsmium has extensive support for all types of OSM entities: nodes, ways, relations, and changesets. It allows reading from OSM files in XML and PBF formats, including change files and full history files. Its easy to use handler interface allows you to quickly write data filtering and conversion functions.
This package contains the PyOsmium utilities.
There are three methods to install pyosmium on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pyosmium Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pyosmium using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pyosmium
Install pyosmium Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pyosmium using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pyosmium
Install pyosmium Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pyosmium using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pyosmium
How To Uninstall pyosmium on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the pyosmium package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pyosmium
Uninstall pyosmium And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pyosmium and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pyosmium
Remove pyosmium Configurations and Data
To remove pyosmium configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pyosmium
Remove pyosmium configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pyosmium configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pyosmium
