Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install pybtex on Ubuntu.
What is pybtex
pybtex is:
Pybtex reads citation information from a file and produces a formatted bibliography. BibTeX style files are supported. Alternatively it is possible to write styles in Python.
Pybtex currently understands the following bibliography formats:
- BibTeX
- BibTeXML
- YAML-based format
The resulting bibliography may be output in one of the following formats:
- LaTeX
- HTML
- plain text
This package provides the command-line interface.
There are three methods to install pybtex on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pybtex Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pybtex using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pybtex
Install pybtex Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pybtex using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pybtex
Install pybtex Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pybtex using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pybtex
How To Uninstall pybtex on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the pybtex package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pybtex
Uninstall pybtex And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pybtex and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pybtex
Remove pybtex Configurations and Data
To remove pybtex configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pybtex
Remove pybtex configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pybtex configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pybtex
