Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install pronterface on Ubuntu.
What is pronterface
pronterface is:
Printrun is a full suite of host interfaces for 3D printers and CNC, consisting of:
- printcore, a standalone non-interactive G-Code sender
- pronsole, an interactive command-line host
- pronterface, a graphical host software with the same functionality as pronsole
Together with Slic3r they form a powerful 3d printing toolchain.
This package contains scripts and metadata for pronterface, a graphical 3D printer host.
There are three methods to install pronterface on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pronterface Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pronterface using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pronterface
Install pronterface Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pronterface using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pronterface
Install pronterface Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pronterface using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pronterface
How To Uninstall pronterface on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the pronterface package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pronterface
Uninstall pronterface And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pronterface and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pronterface
Remove pronterface Configurations and Data
To remove pronterface configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pronterface
Remove pronterface configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pronterface configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pronterface
