In this tutorial we learn how to install printrun on Ubuntu.
What is printrun
printrun is:
Printrun is a full suite of host interfaces for 3D printers and CNC, consisting of:
- printcore, a standalone non-interactive G-Code sender
- pronsole, an interactive command-line host
- pronterface, a graphical host software with the same functionality as pronsole
Together with Slic3r they form a powerful 3d printing toolchain.
This metapackage pulls all Printrun suite components.
There are three methods to install printrun on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install printrun Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install printrun using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install printrun
Install printrun Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install printrun using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install printrun
Install printrun Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install printrun using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install printrun
How To Uninstall printrun on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the printrun package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove printrun
Uninstall printrun And Its Dependencies
To uninstall printrun and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove printrun
Remove printrun Configurations and Data
To remove printrun configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge printrun
Remove printrun configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
