Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install printrun-common on Ubuntu.
What is printrun-common
printrun-common is:
Printrun is a full suite of host interfaces for 3D printers and CNC, consisting of:
- printcore, a standalone non-interactive G-Code sender
- pronsole, an interactive command-line host
- pronterface, a graphical host software with the same functionality as pronsole
Together with Slic3r they form a powerful 3d printing toolchain.
This package contains all common and architecture-independent files for all suite components.
There are three methods to install printrun-common on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install printrun-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install printrun-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install printrun-common
Install printrun-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install printrun-common using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install printrun-common
Install printrun-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install printrun-common using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install printrun-common
How To Uninstall printrun-common on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the printrun-common package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove printrun-common
Uninstall printrun-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall printrun-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove printrun-common
Remove printrun-common Configurations and Data
To remove printrun-common configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge printrun-common
