In this tutorial we learn how to install postfixadmin on Ubuntu.
What is postfixadmin
postfixadmin is:
Postfixadmin is a web interface to manage virtual users and domains for a Postfix mail transport agent. It supports Virtual mailboxes, aliases, forwarders and vacation.
Postfixadmin allows administrators to delegate account handling to domain administrators and allows users to login and change their own settings (e.g. forwarders, vacation, passwords etc).
It provides easy integration into dovecot, courier or cyrus.
Postfixadmin is written in PHP.
There are three methods to install postfixadmin on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install postfixadmin Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install postfixadmin using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install postfixadmin
Install postfixadmin Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install postfixadmin using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install postfixadmin
Install postfixadmin Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install postfixadmin using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install postfixadmin
How To Uninstall postfixadmin on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the postfixadmin package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove postfixadmin
Uninstall postfixadmin And Its Dependencies
To uninstall postfixadmin and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove postfixadmin
Remove postfixadmin Configurations and Data
To remove postfixadmin configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge postfixadmin
Remove postfixadmin configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove postfixadmin configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
