Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install png2html on Ubuntu.
What is png2html
png2html is:
Png2html takes a PNG image and transforms it pixel by pixel to a web page, encoding each pixel as an appropriately coloured letter. It is decided which letter to encode each pixel as by using a text file supplied by the user. An example can be found on the project’s homepage.
There are three methods to install png2html on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install png2html Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install png2html using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install png2html
Install png2html Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install png2html using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install png2html
Install png2html Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install png2html using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install png2html
How To Uninstall png2html on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the png2html package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove png2html

To uninstall png2html and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove png2html
Remove png2html Configurations and Data
To remove png2html configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge png2html
