In this tutorial we learn how to install pipewire-audio-client-libraries on Ubuntu.
What is pipewire-audio-client-libraries
pipewire-audio-client-libraries is:
PipeWire is a server and user space API to deal with multimedia pipelines. This includes:
- Making available sources of video (such as from a capture devices or application provided streams) and multiplexing this with clients.
- Accessing sources of video for consumption.
- Generating graphs for audio and video processing.
This package contains client libraries allowing programs designed for the ALSA, JACK and PulseAudio APIs to use a PipeWire server for audio playback and recording. They are not used by default, and are currently considered to be experimental.
There are three methods to install pipewire-audio-client-libraries on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pipewire-audio-client-libraries using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pipewire-audio-client-libraries
How To Uninstall pipewire-audio-client-libraries on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the pipewire-audio-client-libraries package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pipewire-audio-client-libraries

To uninstall pipewire-audio-client-libraries and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pipewire-audio-client-libraries
Remove pipewire-audio-client-libraries Configurations and Data
To remove pipewire-audio-client-libraries configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pipewire-audio-client-libraries
Remove pipewire-audio-client-libraries configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pipewire-audio-client-libraries configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pipewire-audio-client-libraries
