How To Install pinfo on Ubuntu

Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install pinfo on Ubuntu.
What is pinfo
pinfo is:
Pinfo is user-friendly, console-based viewer for Info documents.
Info document is an old (pre-html) hypertextual docuemntation format that is tradionally used for documentation of GNU utilities. GNU’s default reader for info pages (simply called “info”) however is not very easy to use due to its arcane key bindings.
Pinfo provides a somewhat more userfriendly interface for reading info pages on the console. It uses regular keybinding (cursor keys do what you expect, and navigating though a document is straightforward).
There are three methods to install pinfo on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pinfo Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pinfo using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pinfo
Install pinfo Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pinfo using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pinfo
Install pinfo Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pinfo using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pinfo
How To Uninstall pinfo on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the pinfo package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pinfo
Uninstall pinfo And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pinfo and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pinfo
Remove pinfo Configurations and Data
To remove pinfo configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pinfo
Remove pinfo configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pinfo configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pinfo
