In this tutorial we learn how to install pinentry-x2go on Ubuntu.
What is pinentry-x2go
pinentry-x2go is:
X2Go is a serverbased computing environment with - session resuming - low bandwidth support - session brokerage support - client-side mass storage mounting support - client-side printing support - audio support - authentication by smartcard and USB stick
This package contains an X2Go Client add-on. The add-on provides a PIN or passphrase dialog window for OpenPGP (smart)card authentication with X2Go.
There are three methods to install pinentry-x2go on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pinentry-x2go Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pinentry-x2go using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pinentry-x2go
Install pinentry-x2go Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pinentry-x2go using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pinentry-x2go
Install pinentry-x2go Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pinentry-x2go using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pinentry-x2go
How To Uninstall pinentry-x2go on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the pinentry-x2go package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pinentry-x2go
Uninstall pinentry-x2go And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pinentry-x2go and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pinentry-x2go
Remove pinentry-x2go Configurations and Data
To remove pinentry-x2go configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pinentry-x2go
