In this tutorial we learn how to install picosat on Ubuntu.
What is picosat
picosat is:
Despite the NP completeness of the satisfiabilty problem of Boolean formulas (SAT), SAT solvers are often able to decide this problem in a reasonable time frame. As all other NP complete problems are reducible to SAT, the solvers have become a general purpose tool for this class of problems.
PicoSAT is a SAT solver that turned out to be faster on industrial instances than MiniSAT 2.0 and also can generate proofs and cores in memory.
There are three methods to install picosat on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install picosat Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install picosat using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install picosat
Install picosat Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install picosat using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install picosat
Install picosat Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install picosat using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install picosat
How To Uninstall picosat on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the picosat package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove picosat
Uninstall picosat And Its Dependencies
To uninstall picosat and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove picosat
Remove picosat Configurations and Data
To remove picosat configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge picosat
Remove picosat configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove picosat configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge picosat
