Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install php8.1-memcached on Ubuntu.

What is php8.1-memcached

php8.1-memcached is:

Memcached is a caching daemon designed especially for dynamic web applications to decrease database load by storing objects in memory.

This extension uses libmemcached library to provide API for communicating with memcached servers.

There are three methods to install php8.1-memcached on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install php8.1-memcached Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install php8.1-memcached using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install php8.1-memcached

Install php8.1-memcached Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install php8.1-memcached using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install php8.1-memcached

Install php8.1-memcached Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install php8.1-memcached using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install php8.1-memcached

How To Uninstall php8.1-memcached on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the php8.1-memcached package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove php8.1-memcached

Uninstall php8.1-memcached And Its Dependencies

To uninstall php8.1-memcached and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove php8.1-memcached

Remove php8.1-memcached Configurations and Data

To remove php8.1-memcached configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge php8.1-memcached

Remove php8.1-memcached configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove php8.1-memcached configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge php8.1-memcached
