In this tutorial we learn how to install php-phpspec-prophecy on Ubuntu.
What is php-phpspec-prophecy
php-phpspec-prophecy is:
Prophecy is an opinionated and flexible PHP object mocking framework.
It was initially created to fulfil phpspec2 needs, but is flexible enough to be used inside any testing framework out there with minimal effort.
phpspec can help write clean and working PHP code using behaviour driven development or BDD. BDD is a technique derived from test-first development.
There are three methods to install php-phpspec-prophecy on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install php-phpspec-prophecy Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install php-phpspec-prophecy using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install php-phpspec-prophecy
Install php-phpspec-prophecy Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install php-phpspec-prophecy using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install php-phpspec-prophecy
Install php-phpspec-prophecy Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install php-phpspec-prophecy using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install php-phpspec-prophecy
How To Uninstall php-phpspec-prophecy on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the php-phpspec-prophecy package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove php-phpspec-prophecy

To uninstall php-phpspec-prophecy and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove php-phpspec-prophecy
Remove php-phpspec-prophecy Configurations and Data
To remove php-phpspec-prophecy configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge php-phpspec-prophecy
Remove php-phpspec-prophecy configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove php-phpspec-prophecy configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge php-phpspec-prophecy
