This package provides a Bcmath module for PHP.
PHP (recursive acronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) is a widely-used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML.
This package is a dependency package, which depends on Debian’s default PHP version (currently 8.1).
There are three methods to install php-bcmath
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install php-bcmath Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install php-bcmath
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install php-bcmath

using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install php-bcmath
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install php-bcmath
Install php-bcmath Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install php-bcmath
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install php-bcmath
How To Uninstall php-bcmath on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the php-bcmath
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove php-bcmath
Uninstall php-bcmath And Its Dependencies
To uninstall php-bcmath
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove php-bcmath
Remove php-bcmath Configurations and Data
To remove php-bcmath
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge php-bcmath
