Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install phasex on Ubuntu.
What is phasex
phasex is:
PHASEX is an experimental JACK audio / ALSA MIDI softsynth for Linux with a synth engine built around flexible phase modulation and flexible oscillator/LFO sourcing.
Modulations include AM, FM, offset PM, and wave select. PHASEX comes equipped with a 12db/octave filter with two distortion curves, a stereo crossover delay and chorus with phaser, ADSR envelopes for amplifier and filter, realtime audio input processing capabilities, velocity/aftertouch sensitivity, and more.
There are three methods to install phasex on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install phasex Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install phasex using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install phasex
Install phasex Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install phasex using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install phasex
Install phasex Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install phasex using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install phasex
How To Uninstall phasex on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the phasex package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove phasex
Uninstall phasex And Its Dependencies
To uninstall phasex and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove phasex
Remove phasex Configurations and Data
To remove phasex configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge phasex
Remove phasex configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove phasex configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge phasex
