In this tutorial we learn how to install pfstmo on Ubuntu.
What is pfstmo
pfstmo is:
This package contains a set of state-of-the-art tone mapping operators. Tone mapping is a technique used to approximately map the appearance of high-dynamic range (HDR) images to media with more limited dynamic range. The operators are suitable for processing of both static images and animations.
The operators are embedded in a flexible framework (pfstools) which provides a unified input/output mechanism and a modular architecture for the filtering of the image data. Various file formats for static images and video are transparently supported and the High Dynamic Range data are processed modularly through a Unix piping mechanism.
There are three methods to install pfstmo on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pfstmo Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pfstmo using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pfstmo
Install pfstmo Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pfstmo using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pfstmo
Install pfstmo Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pfstmo using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pfstmo
How To Uninstall pfstmo on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the pfstmo package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pfstmo
Uninstall pfstmo And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pfstmo and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pfstmo
Remove pfstmo Configurations and Data
To remove pfstmo configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pfstmo
Remove pfstmo configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pfstmo configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pfstmo
