How To Install pd-smlib on Ubuntu

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install pd-smlib on Ubuntu.

What is pd-smlib

pd-smlib is:

Signal processing for Mapping - a LIBrary with vector and number stream processing objects for Pd, enhancing this language with objects for rapid prototyping of gesture analysis. It complements Pd with a set of objects for vector processing, vector analysis, vector synthesis, number stream analysis, number stream filters.

There are three methods to install pd-smlib on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install pd-smlib Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install pd-smlib using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install pd-smlib

Install pd-smlib Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install pd-smlib using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install pd-smlib

Install pd-smlib Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install pd-smlib using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install pd-smlib

How To Uninstall pd-smlib on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the pd-smlib package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove pd-smlib

Uninstall pd-smlib And Its Dependencies

To uninstall pd-smlib and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove pd-smlib

Remove pd-smlib Configurations and Data

To remove pd-smlib configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge pd-smlib

Remove pd-smlib configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove pd-smlib configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pd-smlib
