What is pcmemtest
pcmemtest is:
PCMemTest is a stand-alone memory tester for x86 and x86-64 architecture computers. It provides a more thorough memory check than that provided by BIOS memorytests.
PCMemTest can be loaded and run either directly by a PC BIOS (legacy or UEFI) or via an intermediate bootloader that supports the Linux 16-bit, 32-bit, 64-bit, or EFI handover boot protocol. It should work on any Pentium class or later 32-bit or 64-bit CPU.
PCMemTest is a fork and rewrite of Memtest86+, which in turn was a fork of Memtest86.
There are three methods to install pcmemtest on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pcmemtest Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pcmemtest using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pcmemtest

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pcmemtest using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install pcmemtest using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pcmemtest
