Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install openscenegraph on Ubuntu.
What is openscenegraph
openscenegraph is:
A portable, high level graphics toolkit for the development of high performance graphics applications such as flight simulators, games, virtual reality or scientific visualization. Providing an object orientated framework on top of OpenGL, it frees the developer from implementing and optimizing low level graphics calls, and provide many additional utilities for rapid development of graphics applications.
This package contains utilities and examples (binaries).
There are three methods to install openscenegraph on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install openscenegraph Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install openscenegraph using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install openscenegraph
Install openscenegraph Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install openscenegraph using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install openscenegraph
Install openscenegraph Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install openscenegraph using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install openscenegraph
How To Uninstall openscenegraph on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the openscenegraph package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove openscenegraph
Uninstall openscenegraph And Its Dependencies
To uninstall openscenegraph and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove openscenegraph
Remove openscenegraph Configurations and Data
To remove openscenegraph configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge openscenegraph
