In this tutorial we learn how to install openhpi-plugin-sysfs on Ubuntu.

What is openhpi-plugin-sysfs

openhpi-plugin-sysfs is:

OpenHPI is an implementation of the Service Availability Forum’s Hardware Platform Interface specification. (See http://www.saforum.org) As such, OpenHPI facilitates the development of computer manageability applications which are not tied to a single hardware vendor’s products.

This package contains a plugin module that accesses hardware information presented through the sysfs filesystem.

There are three methods to install openhpi-plugin-sysfs on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install openhpi-plugin-sysfs Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install openhpi-plugin-sysfs using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install openhpi-plugin-sysfs

Install openhpi-plugin-sysfs Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install openhpi-plugin-sysfs using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install openhpi-plugin-sysfs

Install openhpi-plugin-sysfs Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install openhpi-plugin-sysfs using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install openhpi-plugin-sysfs

How To Uninstall openhpi-plugin-sysfs on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the openhpi-plugin-sysfs package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove openhpi-plugin-sysfs

Uninstall openhpi-plugin-sysfs And Its Dependencies

To uninstall openhpi-plugin-sysfs and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove openhpi-plugin-sysfs

Remove openhpi-plugin-sysfs Configurations and Data

To remove openhpi-plugin-sysfs configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge openhpi-plugin-sysfs

Remove openhpi-plugin-sysfs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove openhpi-plugin-sysfs configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge openhpi-plugin-sysfs
