In this tutorial we learn how to install openboard-contrib on Ubuntu.

What is openboard-contrib

openboard-contrib is:

OpenBoard is an open source cross-platform interactive white board application designed primarily for use in schools.

It was originally forked from Open-Sankoré, which was itself based on Uniboard.

This package pulls in some contributions that are nice to have in OpenBoard, but have problematic licenses (and are, thus, shipped as part of Debian non-free).

There are three methods to install openboard-contrib on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install openboard-contrib Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install openboard-contrib using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install openboard-contrib

Install openboard-contrib Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install openboard-contrib using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install openboard-contrib

Install openboard-contrib Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install openboard-contrib using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install openboard-contrib

How To Uninstall openboard-contrib on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the openboard-contrib package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove openboard-contrib

Uninstall openboard-contrib And Its Dependencies

To uninstall openboard-contrib and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove openboard-contrib

Remove openboard-contrib Configurations and Data

To remove openboard-contrib configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge openboard-contrib

Remove openboard-contrib configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove openboard-contrib configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge openboard-contrib
