In this tutorial we learn how to install nuttcp on Ubuntu.

What is nuttcp

nuttcp is:

nuttcp is a network performance measurement tool intended for use by network and system managers. Its most basic usage is to determine the raw TCP (or UDP) network layer throughput by transferring memory buffers from a source system across an interconnecting network to a destination system, either transferring data for a specified time interval, or alternatively transferring a specified number of bytes.

There are three methods to install nuttcp on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install nuttcp Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install nuttcp using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install nuttcp

Install nuttcp Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install nuttcp using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install nuttcp

Install nuttcp Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install nuttcp using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install nuttcp

How To Uninstall nuttcp on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the nuttcp package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove nuttcp

Uninstall nuttcp And Its Dependencies

To uninstall nuttcp and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove nuttcp

Remove nuttcp Configurations and Data

To remove nuttcp configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge nuttcp

Remove nuttcp configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove nuttcp configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nuttcp
