In this tutorial we learn how to install nova-compute-ironic on Ubuntu.
What is nova-compute-ironic
nova-compute-ironic is:
OpenStack is a reliable cloud infrastructure. Its mission is to produce the ubiquitous cloud computing platform that will meet the needs of public and private cloud providers regardless of size, by being simple to implement and massively scalable.
OpenStack Compute, codenamed Nova, is a cloud computing fabric controller. In addition to its “native” API (the OpenStack API), it also supports the Amazon EC2 API.
Install this package on your compute nodes if you’re using Ironic.
There are three methods to install nova-compute-ironic on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nova-compute-ironic Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-compute-ironic using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nova-compute-ironic
Install nova-compute-ironic Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-compute-ironic using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nova-compute-ironic
Install nova-compute-ironic Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-compute-ironic using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nova-compute-ironic
How To Uninstall nova-compute-ironic on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the nova-compute-ironic package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nova-compute-ironic
Uninstall nova-compute-ironic And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nova-compute-ironic and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nova-compute-ironic
Remove nova-compute-ironic Configurations and Data
To remove nova-compute-ironic configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nova-compute-ironic
Remove nova-compute-ironic configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nova-compute-ironic configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nova-compute-ironic
