In this tutorial we learn how to install nodeunit on Ubuntu.
What is nodeunit
nodeunit is:
This package provides easy async unit testing for Node.js and the browser.
Particularly, this module:
- Is simple to use,
- Just exports the tests from a module,
- Works with node.js and in the browser,
- Helps you avoid common pitfalls when testing asynchronous code,
- Allows one to easily add test cases with setUp and tearDown functions,
- Adds flexible reporters for custom output, built-in support for HTML & jUnit XML,
- Allows one to use mocks and stubs.
Node.js is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.
There are three methods to install nodeunit on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nodeunit Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nodeunit using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nodeunit
Install nodeunit Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install nodeunit using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nodeunit
Install nodeunit Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nodeunit using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nodeunit
How To Uninstall nodeunit on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the nodeunit package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nodeunit
Uninstall nodeunit And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nodeunit and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nodeunit
Remove nodeunit Configurations and Data
To remove nodeunit configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nodeunit
Remove nodeunit configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nodeunit configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nodeunit
