Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install node-uuid on Ubuntu.
What is node-uuid
node-uuid is:
uuid provides simple, fast generation of RFC4122 UUIDs.
- Support for version 1, 3, 4 and 5 UUIDs
- Cross-platform
- Uses cryptographically-strong random number APIs (when available)
- Small footprint
This package provides uuid usable with Node.js - an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.
There are three methods to install node-uuid on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install node-uuid Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install node-uuid using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install node-uuid
Install node-uuid Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install node-uuid using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install node-uuid
Install node-uuid Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install node-uuid using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install node-uuid
How To Uninstall node-uuid on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the node-uuid package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove node-uuid
Uninstall node-uuid And Its Dependencies
To uninstall node-uuid and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove node-uuid
Remove node-uuid Configurations and Data
To remove node-uuid configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge node-uuid
Remove node-uuid configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove node-uuid configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
