Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install node-set-immediate-shim on Ubuntu.
What is node-set-immediate-shim
node-set-immediate-shim is:
setImmediate allows scripts to yield to the browser, executing a given operation asynchronously, in a manner that is typically more efficient and consumes less power than the usual setTimeout(…, 0) pattern. This library provides a simple setImmediate shim.
This library is a dependency of readdirp. Even though setimmediate is packaged, patching readdirp to use it is more work.
Node.js is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.
There are three methods to install node-set-immediate-shim on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install node-set-immediate-shim Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install node-set-immediate-shim using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install node-set-immediate-shim

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install node-set-immediate-shim using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install node-set-immediate-shim using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install node-set-immediate-shim
How To Uninstall node-set-immediate-shim on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the node-set-immediate-shim package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove node-set-immediate-shim

To uninstall node-set-immediate-shim and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove node-set-immediate-shim

To remove node-set-immediate-shim configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge node-set-immediate-shim
Remove node-set-immediate-shim configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove node-set-immediate-shim configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge node-set-immediate-shim
