In this tutorial we learn how to install node-prompts on Ubuntu.
What is node-prompts
node-prompts is:
prompts permits one to easy use cli prompts to enquire users for information:
- User friendly: prompt uses layout and colors to create beautiful cli interfaces.
- Promised: uses promises and
async/await. No callback hell. - Flexible: all prompts are independent and can be used on their own.
- Testable: provides a way to submit answers programmatically.
- Unified: consistent experience across all prompts.
There are three methods to install node-prompts on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install node-prompts Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install node-prompts using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install node-prompts

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install node-prompts using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install node-prompts
Install node-prompts Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install node-prompts using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install node-prompts
How To Uninstall node-prompts on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the node-prompts package we can use the following command:
