Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install node-getpass
on Ubuntu.
What is node-getpass
node-getpass is:
This library can be used to get a password from the terminal. Even though it sounds simple and sounds like the
readline
module should be able to do it. But readline module does not support it.
If available, this uses /dev/tty
to avoid interfering with any data being
piped in or out of stdio. This function prints a prompt (by default
Password:
) and then accepts input without echoing.

There are three methods to install node-getpass
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install node-getpass Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install node-getpass
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install node-getpass

using aptitude

How To Uninstall node-getpass on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the node-getpass
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove node-getpass

To uninstall node-getpass
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove node-getpass

configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge node-getpass
