In this tutorial we learn how to install node-fd-slicer on Ubuntu.

What is node-fd-slicer

This module provides an API for creating multiple ReadStreams or WriteStreams from the same file descriptor.

The official Node.js API docs say that it is unsafe to use fs.write multiple times on the same file without waiting for the callback. This module solves this problem.

fd-slicer also provides additional features that builtin fs.createWriteStream is lacking, such as progress events and setting a maximum size to write.

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install node-fd-slicer using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install node-fd-slicer

How To Uninstall node-fd-slicer on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the node-fd-slicer package we can use the following command:
