In this tutorial we learn how to install node-diff on Ubuntu.
What is node-diff
node-diff is:
Node is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.
jsdiff is a javascript text differencing implementation based on the algorithm proposed in “An O(ND) Difference Algorithm and its Variations” (Myers, 1986): http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/summary?doi=10.1.1.4.6927.
There are three methods to install node-diff on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install node-diff Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install node-diff using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install node-diff
Install node-diff Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install node-diff using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install node-diff
Install node-diff Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install node-diff using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install node-diff
How To Uninstall node-diff on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the node-diff package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove node-diff
Uninstall node-diff And Its Dependencies
To uninstall node-diff and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove node-diff
Remove node-diff Configurations and Data
To remove node-diff configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge node-diff
Remove node-diff configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove node-diff configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge node-diff
