Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install nextepc-pcrf on Ubuntu.

What is nextepc-pcrf

nextepc-pcrf is:

NextEPC is a C-language Open Source implementation of the 3GPP Evolved Packet Core, i.e. the core network of an LTE network.

This package contains the PCRF (Policy and Charging Rules Function), which controls the service quality (QoS) of individual connections and how to account/charge related traffic. It implements the Gx interface towards the PGW using the DIAMETER protocol.

There are three methods to install nextepc-pcrf on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install nextepc-pcrf Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install nextepc-pcrf using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install nextepc-pcrf

Install nextepc-pcrf Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install nextepc-pcrf using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install nextepc-pcrf

Install nextepc-pcrf Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install nextepc-pcrf using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install nextepc-pcrf

How To Uninstall nextepc-pcrf on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the nextepc-pcrf package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove nextepc-pcrf

Uninstall nextepc-pcrf And Its Dependencies

To uninstall nextepc-pcrf and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove nextepc-pcrf

Remove nextepc-pcrf Configurations and Data

To remove nextepc-pcrf configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge nextepc-pcrf

Remove nextepc-pcrf configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove nextepc-pcrf configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nextepc-pcrf
