In this tutorial we learn how to install mp3info-gtk on Ubuntu.

What is mp3info-gtk

mp3info-gtk is:

MP3Info can display ID3 tag information as well as various technical aspects of an MP3 file including playing time, bit-rate, sampling frequency and other attributes in a pre-defined or user-specifiable output format.

This package installs GTK+ version of mp3info. If you prefer command line or curses interface you should use mp3info package.

There are three methods to install mp3info-gtk on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install mp3info-gtk Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install mp3info-gtk using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install mp3info-gtk

Install mp3info-gtk Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install mp3info-gtk using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install mp3info-gtk

Install mp3info-gtk Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install mp3info-gtk using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install mp3info-gtk

How To Uninstall mp3info-gtk on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the mp3info-gtk package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove mp3info-gtk

Uninstall mp3info-gtk And Its Dependencies

To uninstall mp3info-gtk and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove mp3info-gtk

Remove mp3info-gtk Configurations and Data

To remove mp3info-gtk configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge mp3info-gtk

Remove mp3info-gtk configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove mp3info-gtk configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mp3info-gtk
