How To Install morse-x on Ubuntu

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install morse-x on Ubuntu.

What is morse-x

morse-x is:

morse-x offers you a window to put dits and daws into - by pressing any key (except q = quit). On the console it prints each character you morsed in. (So start it in an x-terminal-emulator.) On the first execution you have to calibrate the length of dits and daws, so just follow the instructions on the console.

There are three methods to install morse-x on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install morse-x Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install morse-x using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install morse-x

Install morse-x Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install morse-x using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install morse-x

Install morse-x Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install morse-x using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install morse-x

How To Uninstall morse-x on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the morse-x package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove morse-x

Uninstall morse-x And Its Dependencies

To uninstall morse-x and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove morse-x

Remove morse-x Configurations and Data

To remove morse-x configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge morse-x

Remove morse-x configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove morse-x configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge morse-x
