Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install miredo-server on Ubuntu.

What is miredo-server

miredo-server is:

The Teredo IPv6 tunneling protocol encapsulates IPv6 packets into UDP/IPv4 datagrams, to allow hosts behind NAT devices to access the IPv6 Internet.

Miredo-server provides a Teredo server. Teredo servers help Teredo clients determine their NAT configuration, maintain their NAT binding, and perform hole punching when transmitting IPv6 packets to other Teredo clients and/or Teredo relays.

There are three methods to install miredo-server on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install miredo-server Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install miredo-server using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install miredo-server

Install miredo-server Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install miredo-server using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install miredo-server

Install miredo-server Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install miredo-server using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install miredo-server

How To Uninstall miredo-server on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the miredo-server package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove miredo-server

Uninstall miredo-server And Its Dependencies

To uninstall miredo-server and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove miredo-server

Remove miredo-server Configurations and Data

To remove miredo-server configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge miredo-server

Remove miredo-server configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove miredo-server configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge miredo-server
