In this tutorial we learn how to install minisat on Ubuntu.
What is minisat
minisat is:
Despite the NP completeness of the satisfiability problem of Boolean formulas (SAT), SAT solvers are often able to decide this problem in a reasonable time frame. As all other NP complete problems are reducible to SAT, the solvers have become a general purpose tool for this class of problems.
MiniSat is a minimalistic, open-source SAT solver, developed to help researchers and developers alike to get started on SAT. Winning all the industrial categories of the SAT 2005 competition, MiniSat is a good starting point both for future research in SAT, and for applications using SAT.
There are three methods to install minisat on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install minisat Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install minisat using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install minisat
Install minisat Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install minisat using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install minisat
Install minisat Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install minisat using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install minisat
How To Uninstall minisat on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the minisat package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove minisat
Uninstall minisat And Its Dependencies
To uninstall minisat and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove minisat
Remove minisat Configurations and Data
To remove minisat configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge minisat
Remove minisat configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove minisat configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge minisat
