Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install med-config on Ubuntu.

What is med-config

med-config is:

This package provides the basic infrastructure of all metapackages assembled by the Debian Med team.

This metapackage provides common features shared between the different metapackages of the project. Moreover it introduces a method to handle a ‘med’ system users group using debconf.

The Debian Med Project include metapackages for different tasks, which are:

Each task is represented by a metapackage. Metapackages do not contain executable programs, but rather dependencies from other packages. This way you will conveniently get all free medical software which is available for Debian by simply installing the relevant metapackage

There are three methods to install med-config on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install med-config Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install med-config using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install med-config

Install med-config Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install med-config using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install med-config

Install med-config Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install med-config using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install med-config

How To Uninstall med-config on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the med-config package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove med-config

Uninstall med-config And Its Dependencies

To uninstall med-config and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove med-config

Remove med-config Configurations and Data

To remove med-config configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge med-config

Remove med-config configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove med-config configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge med-config
