Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install mdk3 on Ubuntu.
What is mdk3
mdk3 is:
MDK is a proof-of-concept tool to exploit common IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) protocol weaknesses. Features:
- Bruteforce MAC Filters.
- Bruteforce hidden SSIDs (some small SSID wordlists included).
- Probe networks to check if they can hear you.
- Intelligent Authentication-DoS to freeze APs (with success checks).
- FakeAP - Beacon Flooding with channel hopping (can crash NetStumbler and some buggy drivers)
- Disconnect everything (aka AMOK-MODE) with Deauthentication and Disassociation packets.
- WPA TKIP Denial-of-Service.
- WDS Confusion - Shuts down large scale multi-AP installations.
There are three methods to install mdk3 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mdk3 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mdk3 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mdk3
Install mdk3 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install mdk3 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mdk3
Install mdk3 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mdk3 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mdk3
How To Uninstall mdk3 on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the mdk3 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mdk3
Uninstall mdk3 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mdk3 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mdk3
Remove mdk3 Configurations and Data
To remove mdk3 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mdk3
Remove mdk3 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mdk3 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mdk3
